SANJUSAN

In Tokyo, you will find some of the best Neopolitan pizza in the world, crafted with extraordinary respect for ingredients and technique. This pizza provided the kernel of the idea for Sanjusan, where you can find a faithful and finely-honed margherita alongside an inspired arancini riff with a silky onsen egg and a sprinkle of togarashi furikake. 

In order to translate the playfulness and energy of the Sanjusan experience, we felt it necessary to start from scratch with a custom, hand-drawn-style typeface. This lettering came in handy for the logo, but is also used throughout all print materials, and its rustic yet artful tone carries through all the work that we do for Sanjusan—stamps, stickers, pizza boxes, to-go bags and packaging, and menus.
